Why this exists
Search for almost anything about veterans and college and you will land on a page built to generate a lead. The school that calls you afterwards paid for your name. That industry exists because GI Bill money is worth a great deal to the institutions that can get at it.
This site is the other thing. We take no money from schools, run no sponsored listings, and sell no leads. There is nothing here to buy.
What we do
A calculator that uses VA’s published rates to show what your benefit covers at a particular school, and what it doesn’t. Plain explanations of the parts that cost people money — the tuition cap, Yellow Ribbon’s tier requirement, the online housing rate, credit for military training. And a route to the scholarship listings when the numbers don’t reach.
Where there is a better source than us, we send you to it. VA’s Comparison Tool and the Education Department’s College Scorecard are both free, both authoritative, and neither is selling you a seat.
About the figures
Rates come from VA’s published tables and are dated on the page where they appear. They change every 1 August. We are not VA, we cannot tell you what your Certificate of Eligibility says, and nothing here is a promise about what you will be paid — confirm with VA and with the school before you enroll.
Who runs it
MilitaryColleges.org is a project of Salute Veterans Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 84-2016237. The same organization runs VeteransDirectory.org, HireAVeteran.org, MilitaryResumes.org and MilitaryCareerFairs.org.
The job board funds the rest. Employers pay to post; everything a veteran touches is free and stays that way.
